BR Teacher is a Women’s Health Hero
Body Recall teacher Sheila Fawbush was one of 20 women from four countries named a Women’s Health Hero by the Boston-based organization, Our Bodies, Our Selves. She was among 100 nominees from 12 countries to receive the award.
Fawbush recently celebrated four years as a certified Body Recall teacher and 10 years as the Cooperative Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Services in Shelby County, Ky. She believes part of her job as Extension Agent is to be a “change agent.”
“As we change lives through health and fitness education, other people see the changes and want this change for themselves,” Fawbush said. “It’s a chance to make a difference in the community.”
Sheila Fawbush makes a difference in the community through Body Recall classes for adults and older adults, cooking classes for children, nutrition programs for Head Start and elementary school students, and “walkabout” programs designed to get participants more active. More than 500 people came to the Health and Fitness Fun Day that she helped organize this past April.

Congratulations, Sheila!!! You are definitely a change agent in
Shelby County. LOVE the “Fun and Fitness Days” and the “First Saturday Walkabouts.”
